Don't Hide From The Crunch
If you have suffered adverse finance as a result of the credit crunch the very best tip is to talk about your problems and see what can be done to solve them.
This starts at home. If you are trying to hide your problems from your partner, it is only going to lead to more stress, more lies and more heartache. Sit down with them, go through your bank account, your credit card statements and all your outgoings and discuss frankly what you can afford and more importantly, what you cannot. It will be a load off your mind and will help you begin on the road to recovery.
You should also not try and hide your problems from the rest of your family. Talk to your children and discuss what has happened in a way that they can understand – you always want to give as much as you can to your children, but the stress of trying to keep up with their demands can also be detrimental in solving your problems.
And talk to your friends. Maybe you have colleagues who are in the same boat as you, or maybe you have some that can help you find work or even give you some financial aid. At the very least your friends can help you emotionally to get through your money problems.
Finally, talk to a professional adviser. It might be easier to talk to a stranger than a friend or a family member, but it will certainly be easier to talk to a stranger who understands exactly what your situation is, and even better, might have some answers to your problems.
